We are pleased to share that the Oregon Zoo Education Center and Eugene School District 4J’s Arts and Technology Academy were recognized by WoodWorks 2020 Wood in Design awards. An annual recognition, the Wood in Design awards honors projects demonstrating attributes of wood such as beauty, strength, versatility and cost effectiveness.

The Oregon Zoo Education Center has been recognized in the Beauty of Wood category for the extensive use of wood and expression of modern architectural style.

“Uniquely detailed, and beautiful façade. I think this is a beautiful, holistic use of wood.”

Matt Shaw, Executive Editor of The Architect’s Newspaper and 2020 WoodWorks juror on the Education Center

The Arts and Technology Academy received the Wood in Schools design award, which recognizes a project that gives special consideration to utilizing wood in a cost-effective manner while also meeting set objectives – such as creating an enriching environment or achieving human health and environmental objectives.
