We’re proud to share that the Oregon Zoo Education Center has been featured in ArchDaily’s article, “Architecture as an Invitation to Explore: 25 Visitor Centers Around the World.”
Selected alongside projects from across the globe, the Education Center stands out as a regional hub for environmental learning. Its organic design blurs the boundary between indoors and outdoors, creating a seamless relationship with the surrounding landscape. Its sustainable architecture creates a seamless relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces, inviting curiosity and encouraging a deeper connection to the natural world.
“These [Seven Cultural Centers with Provocative Forms for New Experiences] are not just informational spaces — they provoke, challenge, and immerse visitors in aesthetic and educational experiences…Here, architecture becomes a form of storytelling: space as narrative.” – Camilla Ghisleni, ArchDaily
The LEED Platinum building was recognized with an AIA COTE Top Ten Award for its net-zero energy performance and its role as a “building that teaches.” Through visible sustainable systems and integrated learning environments, the center reflects the Oregon Zoo’s mission to advance animal welfare, environmental literacy and conservation science.
