Multi-Use Pandemic Response Center

Jackson County

The Multi-Use Pandemic Response Center was born from a need for Jackson County residents to have access to safe, temporary shelter during weather and health related emergencies while also creating a welcoming and accessible community center for the City of Central Point.

Designed to serve as a primary hub for regional emergencies following a series of wildfires and the COVID-19 pandemic, the Multi-Use Pandemic Response Center features a large commercial kitchen, shower facilities and an eight-court basketball gymnasium that can quickly be utilized for aid distribution, temporary shelter or clinic space for vaccinations.

In addition to serving as emergency shelter space, the eight full-size basketball courts at the Multi-Use Pandemic Response Center will be available for community recreation use. Two of the eight courts are fully dedicated to the City of Central Point for after school programs, community learning workshops and activities.

When not in use for emergencies, the facility will also serve as overflow space for the neighboring Expo Center’s sporting events or other large events.
