The Multicultural Center aims to increase cultural awareness and inclusion on campus, as well as re-envision parts of the College of Education and Professional Studies (CEPS) space.
The Multicultural Center, located inside the existing Black Hall building, doubles the size of the former Diversity and Equity Center, while incorporating spaces specifically designed for multicultural programs.
The reimagined center features a kitchen to share cultural foods, student organization spaces, a reflection room and multipurpose spaces for student club activities and events.
Student voices emerged early in the programming and design process through a Community Expert Design Advocate (CEDA) program. Selected student CEDAs worked closely with our team, participating in design workshops, facilitating communication, and gathering campus-wide input. As part of the program, students were compensated for the time and effort during the engagement process.
