Madras Health Sciences & Children’s Learning Center

Central Oregon Community College

The new Central Oregon Community College (COCC) Madras Health Sciences and Children’s Learning Center addresses the demand for health care training, early childhood education and child care services in Jefferson County by expanding the Madras campus to better serve students, families and employers throughout the region.

Size: 23,885 sf

Opsis worked closely with COCC and community partners to define health care and child care program needs, and collaborated with the COCC Foundation to explore fundraising and grant opportunities that helped move the project forward.

The 23,885 sf facility houses Nursing, Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant and Early Childhood Education programs. Designed to support health sciences careers, students now have access to hybrid learning classrooms, hands-on training environments, a simulation lab and a chemistry lab.

The project also includes The Children’s Learning Center, a local nonprofit early childhood development and child care provider with capacity to serve up to 100 children, as well as observation rooms that support students pursuing careers in early childhood education.

By expanding educational capacity and creating pathways to high-demand careers in health care and early childhood education, the project strengthens Central Oregon’s workforce pipeline while providing lasting benefits for students, families and the broader community.
