Facing nearly two million in upgrades to their aging, 1960’s era Community Recreation Center, the Oak Hills Community elected to expand their vision with a renovation and addition to the Oak Hills Recreation Center.
Location: Beaverton, OR
The renovation and addition resulted in a renewed community room, new gymnasium, two outdoor pools, new locker/changing room, pool equipment and storage room, as well as a new picnic and children’s play area.
The design of this cluster of small-scale buildings provides added safety and security through the careful arrangement of each structure to provide visibility and supervision of the entire facility without adding more staff.
In its form, scale, material and color choices, the combined renovation and addition seamlessly blends in the existing natural and build fabric of this historically registered and architecturally iconic neighborhood development.
