Student Housing Site Plan

Having not built new housing on campus in 30 years, Western Washington University reached out to Opsis to help develop a site plan vision for multiple upcoming projects.

The study evaluated a range of living typologies and unit sizes. Based on these results multiple campus sites were reviewed relative to campus services, access to the academic core and circulation. Three sites were selected for further study and tested with room modules to determine massing and total bed capacity.
Of the options studied, Site B provides 415 beds in five floors; Site E provides 413 beds in seven floors, and site F offers 414 beds in six floors. Each site posed unique conditions for parking capacity and infrastructure access and each site configuration explored consideration of room types, amenities and dining options.
