The ILC combines aspects of a student union, classroom building, technology center and library into one unique facility.

The Center is layered vertically from the highly active ground floor to the quieter upper-level study areas. Using 3D models, the design team worked collaboratively with the planning committee to test a wide range of integrated planning strategies that resulted in a dynamic organization where almost every element in the building is visible from any point.

The ground floor, a satellite student union, contains a cyber café, food court, convenience store, a 200-seat auditorium and a multi-media lab.

The upper-level classrooms open up to both enclosed collaborative learning rooms and open study lounges. The central light-filled atrium contains a specialized 3D visualization lab and a teaching/learning center.

A dramatic two-story reading room provides panoramic views of the campus and foothills.

Opsis was the design architect with LCA serving as the executive architect.
