Proposal Manager

Hybrid – Portland, OR

The Opsis Proposal Manager has an important role to play in supporting our pursuits and in crafting compelling stories about our work. You’ll work closely with our project teams to navigate RFP processes, create meaningful and differentiated proposals, and craft the language that appeals to clients across a wide range of markets. You thrive in collaborative work environments, are curious about themes of design, sustainability, and engagement, and driven by exploring fresh and innovative ways to communicate winning messages. As a member of the in-house marketing team, you’ll work with the Marketing Director and Marketing Manager on a rich diversity of projects, and be comfortable with a hybrid work environment.

Opsis Architecture is a 60-person architecture and design firm located near Portland’s Pearl District in Northwest Portland. Combining a commitment to design excellence with a passion for innovation, sustainability, and community-focused design solutions, our teams work in a collaborative environment that encourages shared vision-making and a strong sense of community. The focus of our practice ranges from higher education, K-12 education and cultural arts projects to community centers and commercial developments.

Our ideal candidate brings experience guiding a team of busy design professionals through the proposal development process while providing a clear and convincing voice to our written content.  You are a self-starter, resourceful and confident in your time management skills. Comfortable working in a smaller firm where marketers wear many hats, you also place fun at the top of your priority list, and bring a positive attitude to each day.

Key Roles:

  • Strategic communicator that can leverage storytelling, case studies, and graphic messaging to reach our audiences. You understand and thrive in the space of explaining complex ideas in ways that are easy to understand.
  • Organize and manage Opsis’s proposal processes – from kickoff through subconsultant coordination, to final delivery. Opsis may be a prime member of a design team, a consulting member of a team, or a partner in Progressive Design Build pursuits – we’re agile in our responses based on our role.
  • Lead a team of architects and designers through the proposal development process, including organization of team review cycles using a combination of InDesign and Bluebeam, and supported by Microsoft Teams.
  • Responsible for providing a consistent written voice for Opsis, which may encompass writing, editing, proofing and overall quality control for proposals, case studies, social media content, award submittals, press releases and other Opsis-generated content.
  • Develop and maintain systems that support content libraries, including day-to-day efforts related to our VantagePoint database systems and material libraries.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in marketing and proposal-based pursuits for a professional service firm. (A/E/C preferred)
  • Mastery of the written word, with the ability to communicate to many constituencies across media types
  • Highly organized, dependable, detail oriented and thorough
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage competing demands to meet deadline constraints
  • Proficiency in Word, InDesign, and Teams required. Experience with VantagePoint, Bluebeam or other related systems are a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in English, marketing, communications or related disciplines
